Understanding Grief

To cope with the loss of a loved one, there are several steps you need to take to travel your journey through grief:

  1. Become aware of your feelings;

  2. Acknowledge those feelings; and,

  3. Have an action plan for coping with your grief.

The aftercare section on our website should help you travel through your grief journey by providing you with the information and resources you need to:

  1. Understand the feelings you may be having;

  2. Create rituals that will help you adjust to the death of your loved one;

  3. Express your feelings;

  4. Confirm your spirituality; and,

  5. Reach out to others for support.

Every individual reacts to grief is unique way. Grief can be physical for some, emotional for others, possibly physical and emotional for another. It takes years for some people to travel the journey and far less time for others. No matter how grief affects you or how long it takes for you to cope with your loss, The Lexington Cemetery wants to help you complete your journey through grief.

The Lexington Cemetery has partnered with New Leaf Resources, a national grief recovery and support organization based in Louisville, Kentucky to provide the most up-to-date information available on our website so families we serve and other people in our community can recover from their loss.
